  1. Combine the tomato puree, sweetener, and cayenne pepper in a medium-sized saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer until it reduces by half, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Meanwhile, in another small saucepan, combine the vinegar, onions, celery salt, cloves, and cinnamon stick pieces. bring to a boil, then remove from the heat. Strain out the solids.
  3. Add the flavored vinegar to the tomato mixture. Simmer for another 20 minutes, or until the ketchup reaches the desired consistency. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  4. Blend the cooled ketchup with an immersion blender or in a small blender until smooth. Store in a clean jar with an airtight lid for up to 1 month in the refrigerator.
  5. VARIATION:
  6. Add a few Tbsp of prepared horseradish to make this cocktail sauce.
  7. Add chopped pickles and mayonnaise to make Thousand Island Dressing
